Student Success Story – Alyssa Escanio

Alyssa Escanio is a Senior User Experience major and was hired by Miller Electric Mfg LLC as a Summer 2022 Digital Experience – Marketing Intern.

What did you work on this summer?  I am working on creating Miller and Hobart website personas evaluating the key attributes users look for and utilize on the site. I am also conducting a UX analysis of the Hobart Weld Shop site with proposed recommendations.

What’s the best thing about your job?  The opportunity to explore is one of the many things I love about my job. These two capstone projects have given me the opportunity to go in any direction, allowing me to do a deep dive while working at my own pace. This allowed me to learn an abundance more. I also enjoy the environment in which I can work in, having both in-person and remote options gives me the ability to work outside the office when needed. I also enjoyed being able to communicate with a wide variety of people from various divisions/positions, it not only broadens my network but allows me to see my work in a different perspective.

What’s great about your company?  The amount of resources available to interns is beyond amazing. I was not only given the opportunity to learn how to weld, but I was also able to attend so many events, such as the National Sales Meeting (Green Bay, WI) and the ITW Senior Intern Conference (Glenview, IL). Interns were also given the opportunity to partake in several volunteer opportunities. ITW and Miller also ensured there were several opportunities for interns to network, explore, and grow.
