Caleb Andreano is a Senior Computer Engineering major and was hired by Milwaukee Tool as a Firmware Engineering Intern for the Summer of 2024.
What did you work on this summer? My project is implementing a novel state of charge algorithm for the M18 battery platform. I’m developing new firmware and modifying a large existing codebase to implement the feature, and I’m writing automated tests that collect data from the device I’m working on and control power supplies and measurement instruments. I’m also creating data processing pipelines to manipulate and interpret the data I collect.
What’s the best thing about your job? I have a lot of freedom to try different approaches to my project, but I still have clear expectations and guidance. I get to work on things that might end up on a real project, so I feel like my work is meaningful.
What’s great about your company? Everyone is very willing to answer questions that I have or to brainstorm bug fixes and tests. I’m getting to interact with a lot of very talented engineers and learning a ton about how real engineering is actually done.
How did you find your internship opportunity? I found my internship at the MSOE Career Fair.
How did the Career Connections Center help you with your internship search? I visited the Career Connections Center for help refining my resume as well as negotiate and manage multiple offers.
