Ana is a Senior Software Engineering major who worked for Miller Electric as an AI Intern the summer of 2025.
What did you work on this summer? I have been developing a machine learning model that segments high speed video (10,000 frames per second) welds. After segmenting the video, I am using an algorithm that uses the differences between pixels between frames to determine speed. We are hoping this will provide more data and information throughout a weld, and will help improve welding processes by using this data to find correlations between other welding data and the speed data.
What’s the best thing about your job? I really enjoy my project! Being able to work on something that I truly find interesting and am excited to work on everyday has made the summer fly by. Even more, I’ve gotten to learn how to weld and have learned so much about how welding works. Also, I have enjoyed playing ping pong with my coworkers during lunch everyday; it breaks up the day and is such a fun way to socialize with my coworkers.
What’s great about your company? The culture at Miller Electric is truly amazing. I feel very supported in my work here, and I feel like I am truly allowed to be curious. Everyone I’ve met will go out of their way to help others and has been so excited about talking to interns and answering any and all questions.
How did you find your internship opportunity? I found my internship at the Career Fair.
