Crystal is a Senior Computer Engineering major who worked at Hydrite as a Software Engineering Intern in the summer of 2025.
What did you work on this summer? Throughout my three internships at Miller, I have worked on several projects. I’ve had the chance to take ownership of projects and have free reign to make decisions. My entire breadth and depth of knowledge has been put to use as well. I’ve done projects that range from purely software, like web development, through embedded systems, all the way to PCB design and CAD modeling.
What’s the best thing about your job? The best thing about my job is the focus on people. It doesn’t matter if you’re a full time engineer, an intern, an assembler on the line, a customer, or a business partner: nobody is just a cog in the machine; nobody is just a number. We all help each other to reach our goals. Miller recognizes that happy people do the best work, and they put a lot of effort into ensuring that people are happy.
What’s great about your company? The company culture here at Miller and at ITW as a whole is unparalleled. Everyone here is incredibly kind and helpful. With all the Employee Resource Groups that ITW offers, like Pride at ITW, I know that ITW has my back as a member of the LGBTQ community.
How did you find your internship opportunity? I found my internship at the MSOE Career Fair.
How did the Career Connections Center help you with your internship search? The Career Connections Center has been a vital tool throughout my college experience. They’ve helped me with career fair prep and my resume on at least half a dozen occasions. Even now they’re helping me navigate responding to full time offers.
