INNOVATE WITHOUT BOUNDARIES! At Milwaukee Tool we firmly believe that our People and our Culture are the bookends of our success. Our employees work with a passion to never settle and always improve, enabling us to push the status quo and change the lives of our users.
Milwaukee Tool Automation Engineers develop innovative automated test systems to support new product tests across North America. We work cross-functionally with new product development engineers and the test lab to define test system requirements. We make empowered decisions to rapidly take your test system design from concept to reality. Additionally, we support troubleshooting and design revisions to continuously improve existing systems.
We are looking for engineers passionate about automation, team collaboration, and product testing. A typical Automation Engineer has vertical mechatronics skillsets including Mechanical, Electrical, and Programming. While an engineer might specialize in one discipline, each engineer is expected to be agile across disciplines.
Behind our doors you’ll be empowered every day to own it, drive it, and do what it takes to design and develop the biggest breakthroughs in the industry. Meanwhile, you’ll have the support and resources of the fastest-growing brand in the construction industry to make it happen.
The TOOLS you’ll need to have:
Overall:
Develop innovative automated test systems to support new product development.
Integrate and troubleshoot physical hardware, sensors, and motion devices across domestic and global test labs.
Create system documentation including BOM (bill of materials) and operational instructions.
Analyze project risks – including Cost, Schedule, Procurement, Design, and Safety.
Prioritize and manage multiple projects – Adhere to timelines and excel in a fast-paced high-energy environment.
Collaborate with other engineers in technical solutions and implementation across domestic and global test labs.
Mechanical
Create and upkeep CAD models and drawings of system assemblies, components, and products.
Perform FEA, static, force, torque, inertial, and energy calculations on crucial mechanical components and assemblies.
Specify material, surface finish, heat treatment, and coatings based on application, stresses, wear, and tolerances.
Electrical:
Create and upkeep electrical schematics for system power, system safety, system measurements and physical panel layouts CAD.
Specify system design stage uncertainty for all measurements devices included in the system design.
Conduct impedance, filtering, amperage, power, voltage, and conversion calculations.
Software
Create custom NI LabVIEW and PLC applications for data collection, hardware control, automated test execution, and test lab process automation.
Create and query SQL databases to save test data, create data visualizations, and enable data-driven decisions.
Integrate and troubleshoot systems across domestic and global test labs.
The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:
Overall:
Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
Analytical and reasoning skills with an ability to visualize processes and outcomes.
Ability to build, integrate, and debug automated systems.
Mechanical:
Familiarity with mechanical design utilizing CAD – SolidWorks or NX
