Design Research Intern

The Design Research team sits within our front-end innovation group and is tasked with gaining a deep understanding of our users, identifying opportunities for innovation, and informing the product strategy of the company. As a Design Research intern, you will gain hands-on research experience collaborating with researchers, engineers, and designers. At the end of the internship, you will have completed your own research project and will present your insights to our team and project stakeholders.

The TOOLS you’ll need to have:
Plan and execute a research project of your own with the support of an experienced design researcher
Present your project insights at the end of the internship with a well-crafted story
Collaborate on a variety of projects that involve contextual discovery on jobsites, research to understand a competitive product set, validation of preliminary conceptual prototypes in the field and more
Participate in analysis sessions to identify insights and opportunities
Assist in planning and facilitating team workshops to build empathy for the users and inspire creativity
The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:
Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology or related area of study You are curious: about your research topic, the company, your co-workers, and your process
You are comfortable working in the ambiguous “fuzzy front end”
You are comfortable with approaching and talking to a wide range of people
You are a champion for the user and their needs in the product development process
You believe design research may be a potential career path for you
