About the Role:

As an Electrical Engineer I, you will join our new Automation Division, supporting the design, development, and testing of electrical systems used in innovative automation and equipment support solutions. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates looking to apply engineering fundamentals in a hands-on, fast growing environment while collaborating with experienced engineers and cross functional teams. This role requires up to 25% travel. Join our automation team based in Atlanta, GA or Milwaukee, WI.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

System Architecture & Standardization

• Learn and apply established electrical design standards and templates for material handling automation systems.

• Assist in the creation and maintenance of I/O lists, wire schedules, and panel layout drawings.

• Support documentation efforts for UL508A, NEC, and IEC compliance.

Technical Leadership & Execution

• Participate in the development of basic electrical schematics for low-voltage control panels.

• Assist with panel builds, wiring checks, and point-to-point verification.

• Provide direct support to field engineering staff during commissioning activities, focusing on learning and assisting with troubleshooting.

• Perform redlining and revision of electrical drawings based on field changes.

Team Development & Mentorship

• Engage in onboarding and internal training to develop fundamental engineering knowledge.

• Participate in peer learning sessions and shadow senior engineers.

• Ask questions and seek technical guidance to improve core skillsets.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Coordinate with Controls Engineers to confirm I/O configuration and panel interfaces.

• Interface with Project Managers and Fabricators to ensure timely handoffs and panel readiness.

• Participate in customer and internal reviews as an observer or note-taker.

Strategic Growth & Innovation

• Stay up to date on basic industry standards, electrical components, and panel shop practices.

• Support the engineering team in reviewing supplier updates and standard part selections.

• Identify areas for personal development and growth within the team.

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field.

• 0–2 years of professional experience in electrical design or panel layout (internships/co-ops acceptable).

Preferred:

• Internship or co-op experience

• Knowledge of IEEE, NEC, or similar standards

• Experience with SPICE, MATLAB, or similar simulation tools

• Exposure to automation, controls, or embedded systems

• Interest in pursuing FE / PE licensure
