Toshiba America Energy Systems Corporation (TAES) provides energy industry solutions – new equipment, retrofits, maintenance, outage planning and more – for current and future power generation needs in the Americas, including thermal, hydro and nuclear power plants.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Dynamic Analysis Engineer to work out of our West Allis, WI office. This role is responsible for evaluating the mechanical condition, vibration behavior, and dynamic performance of rotating equipment in support of customer service projects. The role applies established analytical methods, inspection scopes, and acceptance criteria to diagnose issues, recommend corrective actions, and support execution activities required to return equipment to reliable service.

Essential Duties

  • Perform dynamic analysis engineering activities for turbine-generator service projects, including evaluation of vibration, operational, and inspection data.
  • Apply established TAES procedures and industry standards to assess equipment condition and dynamic behavior.
  • Develop engineering recommendations for corrective actions, repair scopes, and balancing approaches.
  • Works closely with shop operations, field services, and project management. The role supports both shop and field-based activities, including balancing execution, data collection, engineering analysis, and technical reporting.
  • Prepare engineering setups, calculations, and documentation required for balancing and diagnostic activities.
  • Evaluate rotor bows, coupling alignment, and internal alignment and make recommendations to correct vibration problems.
  • Continuous improvement of dynamic analysis tools, procedures, and standards.
  • Prepare engineering setups, calculations, and documentation required for balancing and diagnostic activities.
  • Perform low-speed balancing activities.
  • Perform high-speed balancing of small to medium rotors; support larger or higher-risk balancing activities under senior engineer guidance.
  • Support field execution activities related to dynamic analysis, balancing, and diagnostics.
  • Participate in data acquisition, test setup, and validation activities during service execution.

Travel

Approximately 25%, primarily supporting vibration data collection on startups, shutdowns, or diagnosing vibration concerns.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years’ experience in dynamic analysis, rotating machinery, and vibration/rotor dynamics.
  • Preferred: coursework or training in rotor dynamics, vibration analysis, structural dynamics, diagnostics, or balancing.
  • Preferred: experience with large rotating equipment (turbines, generators, compressors) in industrial/power generation service or maintenance.
  • Strong analytical skills and engineering judgment; able to work to established procedures and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong written/verbal communication (technical reports, customer interaction).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiar with document management systems.
  • Preferred: MATLAB, AutoCAD/SolidWorks, FEA, MS Project, and Python.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform standard office duties and periodic work in industrial environments.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate shop and plant facilities during site visits.

Work Environment

  • Primarily office‑based with periodic work in power generation construction and operating environments.
  • Must be capable of navigating industrial facilities, including stairs, platforms, and confined spaces during site visits
