Toshiba America Energy Systems Corporation (TAES) provides energy industry solutions – new equipment, retrofits, maintenance, outage planning and more – for current and future power generation needs in the Americas, including thermal, hydro and nuclear power plants.

We are seeking to fill the role of a Turbine Engineer (entry level or experienced) to work at our West Allis, WI site. This position will be responsible for Mechanical Engineering activities in support of power generator service, turbine evaluation and repair. The job will require working closely with other engineers, shop operations, field operations and project management personnel to execute customer service projects. This position will involve all aspects of turbine service including evaluation of turbines, or turbine components, as well as prescribing or development of repairs needed to return them to serviceable condition. Hands on work, in support of project execution and in close cooperation with other company operations and customers, are expected. Additionally, this position will be responsible for participation in bidding and proposal information development.

Essential Duties

• Review of Customers request for quotation to determine Toshiba`s technical ability to meet customer needs based on established Toshiba capabilities.
• Assist in creation of work scopes and pricing under the direction of a more senior level engineer. Review turbine components, understand the service impact of the worn components as explained by higher level engineers.
• Learn basic inspection with portable coordinate measuring equipment. Apply existing inspection test work scopes (or assists in creating new scopes) and direct data collection as needed to perform condition assessment or diagnose equipment problems.
• Assist other Engineers in evaluating inspection results and representing them to customers.
• Learn applicable repair methods for common turbine components.
• Create repair drawings and work instructions under the direction of a more senior level engineer.
• Learn about Toshiba and OOEM materials used for common components.
• Learn about weld repairs of turbine components.
• Perform vendor visits as needed to monitor job progress and facilitate progress.
• Learn risk assessment from more senior engineers
• Become knowledgeable about Toshiba`s base technical and commercial offerings.

Education and Required Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with at least one year of related experience in manufacturing industry
• Demonstrated technical aptitude in manufacturing processes and standards
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills including experience in procedure and process documentation and technical report writing.
• Ability to deliver technical presentations to customers required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
• Basic understanding in the use of SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of document management concepts and computer-based document management systems is required.
• Application of software based finite element methods desired.

Work Environment

Requires ability to work in an office environment as well within a manufacturing shop environment where exposed to extreme temperatures and exposed to higher notice levels.
