Student Success Story- Nick Stofcheck

Nick Stofcheck is a Senior Finance major and was hired by ULINE as a Quotes Analyst Intern for the summer of 2023.

What did you work on this summer?

As a Quotes Analyst intern, I worked with SQL, Power BI, and Excel to create reports analyzing quote reps performance. Quote reps are inside sales representatives that handle high quantity orders, high price orders, and customized orders. I also took control of the daily reports that were sent out each morning, along with automating a monitoring schedule for new reps.

What was the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job was that I got to analyze problems in real time to suggest and implement practices that will lead to more success for reps, the department, and the company. I enjoyed being able to gather data, look at it more than one way, break it down, and present a conclusion on next steps. The last, but most important aspect of my job that I liked was the support system I had in the Quotes Department. They gave me meaningful work that is still going to be used at the end of my internship, and they made sure to check in with me on how I was doing and my progress throughout the internship.

What’s great about your company?

The greatest thing about Uline is the people. Coming into the office is something a lot of people don’t like to do, but I truly enjoyed being able to interact with not only people in my department, but other interns and full-time employees daily. When we met with the top executives of the company, they did not treat us like we were interns. They listened to the projects we completed over the summer, and I could tell that they valued every person’s input no matter what level of the company they were at. The state-of-the-art facilities were also a huge reason for me enjoying coming into the office every day. Landscapers were there every single day to maintain the campus, the fitness center offered everything, the café had delicious food with options for everyone, and the facilities staff made it a top priority to keep the buildings clean from floor to ceiling.

How did you find your internship opportunity?

I found this internship at the Career Fair.

How did the Career Connections Center help you with your internship search?

The Career Connections Center helped me with Career Fair preparation which definitely helped me when speaking with one of the Uline representatives. They also provided me with tops on how to best optimize my LinkedIn profile so I wasn’t lost in the shuffle.
